Did you know that putting floating solar on only 10% of the surface of all the reservoirs that humans have built could provide 110% of the electricity that we now are producing? Well, now you do.

Also, it might reduce evaporation considerably, conserving more water in reservoirs and reducing humidity and thus posdibly flashfloods.--hypothesis.

Evaporation reduction definitely, but the others seem speculative and don't strike me as very possible because of the scale differences between some floating islands and such broad scale things as flashfloods not to mention ambient humidity.
Putting PV roofs over canals is already saving acre feet of water in a few arid irrigated agricultural regions, but it's just in its infancy so far.

I believe that humanity needs to think much bigger and use #Agrivoltaics wherever possible. (In fact, we could call the swimming panels and the roofed canals #Aquavoltaics.
As I've researched for my thread, agrivoltaics creates #microclimates, likewise irrigated gardens like the ones built by the #Moors in southern Spain, e.g. #Granada.
Picture this 4 almost any fields, rivers, and reservoirs, as well as some coastal regions...still micro?

P.S. I'm hoping that aid agencies and local leaders in #Ukraine are actively looking towards #Agrivoltaics and batteries to make their grid more resilient and to replace the stations that Putin has destroyed.

but it would save a lot of water for agriculture and drinking (with less effort to put into than saltwater)

I am not saying that the impact of doing all that on e.g. the global amount of precipitation or the climate will be measurable.
However, I believe that mass-implementing #microclimate technology can be a game change, e.g. for #permaculture. 1) [link follows shortly]

All this passive cooling instead of using A/C would have a huge impact on energy usage.
I reckon that if we could capture and store the #AtmosphericRiver and #Flashflood/#Monsoon-type #rainfalls regionally, that would also be a huge game-changer.
