Ihr habt noch immer einen Fehler bei den Suchmaschinen :blobcat:
Dort ist fälschlicherweise das Logo vom Fennek ein weiteres Mal platziert.
Und in dem Zuge: Ecosia hat ein neueres Logo. 🙂

As always ... More options exists ...

  • @protonprivacy (Mail, mail alias, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Password Manager, VPN)
  • @simplex for chat/IM
  • @e_mydata as deGoogled Android alternative
  • @filen as a Drive alternative

the AndroidOS alternatives you mention don't work on most Android devices, maybe 90% or more.

Authy for Android checks for the proprietary Play Integrity API from Google which Custom Roms like CalyxOS, GrapheneOS and LineageOS cannot provide so it isn't a good recommendation if you're really privacy conscious

Watching Mozilla decide they want to try to become another Google I find myself wanting to move away from both of them. But all real browsers are based around those big two. Hopefully Servo someday will give us a viable open option. Fingers crossed. For now I'm using LibreWolf which adds a lot of privacy-focused modifications to Firefox and should hopefully block the changes Mozilla is planning.

Generally a good list, though I object to Authy being on the list; mainly due to the data breach in 2022, being closed-source and making it difficult to export your TOTP codes.

I would recommend Ente Auth instead, FOSS, E2E encrypted backups/sync, easy imports and exports of TOTP codes. Cross platform apps on mobile, Mac, Windows and Linux as well.

ente.io/auth/

Ente Photos can also be considered as an alternative to Google Photos.

I really like theses Tuta posts and
suggestions in the comments, because not only do I learn a lot, but mainly because everybody's clearly wrong on their choices 😛

As an alternative to Google Keep/Evernote, Notesnook can be considered.

E2E encrypted with cross platform apps. Good feature set with affordable regional pricing. Free tier available as well.

Just so you're aware, this exact image was posted in october as well. with lots of suggestions that should be changed but none of those changes have been made (and some of these aren't up to date much)

also: consider adding @kagihq Translate to the Translate alternatives

It's #CyberSecurityMonth! Time to #deGoogle 💪💪💪

Escosia?? Funny misspell, in Spanish it's read as "Scotland" 😂

The right spelling is "Ecosia" btw, great search engine

Drop Wire and add @deltachat and conversations instead?

A worthy goal, but are some of these true 1:1 alternatives? Vimeo for YouTube, for example - Vimeo has a fraction of the content and targets a much different audience and use case. If the content I want to see is on YT and not on Vimeo, it's not really a practical switch. But the real sticking point for me is the smooth interoperability of Google products. I just don't think I could give that up, unfortunately (and they know and exploit that fact).

both Fennec and Mull are not longer maintained. However, we may have a Librewolf mobile browser soon.

sadly, invidious is dying so if you have a computer, you should use freetube for pc and newpipe for mobile
in reply to Tuta

I have seen this toot before and I see that the issues from last time repeated this year. It's just a low effort ad: no consideration for other Gmail alternatives nor good research on the other categories. People still boost it because they see their favourite services there, but it's just an ad.
in reply to Tuta

what about:

- thunderbird for email
- vivaldi (web browser and also email)
- qwant as search engine
- freetube for watching videos

I didn't know there were alternatives to android other than iOS, might try to know more about it

OSMAnd used to be good but it's crazy unstable the last few years and at this point it always crashes before I can even get an address entered...OrganicMaps seems like a better choice.

My opinion of this list with chess.com analysis annotations.

Definitely missing: Session, Threema, Obtainium, Cryptee, Organic Maps, Notesnook, Mullvad and Brave Browser, Brave Search, Startpage, 1password, PeerTube, VPNs, aliasing services, OS alternatives, Proton, ente, self host.

This is the same list you posted a few months ago. You didn't change anything for the better. Proton Calendar still beats you guys afaic (paid Tuta user). Imo the list is outdated and a bit misleading.

there’s a few bad options here like Wire, DuckDuckGo Browser etc

I also recommend Organic Maps. Uses OpenStreetMap data. 😀🌱
