The Thunderbird Beta channel just updated to version 126.0b1, and it brings major visual improvements to Cards View! 😍
(Shown here with all visible messages selected.)

A big round of applause to Micah and Sol from our UX team for their awesome work on this, and to our community for your valuable feedback here and on our #Thunderbird UX mailing list (https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/ux).

Craig Nicol reshared this.

That's cool. But I'm getting more and more worried about the state of the #RSS reader in #thunderbird

Before, it read all the feeds on my list of feeds to read. No sweat, no drama. Now it's reading less and less of a chunk. It' starts reading and then simply stops without telling me why. I'm having to subdivide the list into sublists and call the reader on each to have them read in full. That's very annoying. And time-consuming.

in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

COME ON! There is no improvement when — for the same pixel count — you go from 14 items to 10 items on display :(
in reply to patpro

@patpro
I believe Thunderbird is keeping the options to keep using the older "card view" in future releases. Also, in this case, it improves email readability significantly, with better separation, but if your only metric for improvements is the densest pixels per email, you could use the list view.
in reply to fiberdrive

@fiberdrive Indeed, Table View is probably the option for you @patpro And you can also choose a more compact density.

The alignment on the top bar still feels off, doesn't it?

I would like to suggest to always set the buttons (icons) to the left or right to remove the third line this way.
Having a mostly empty third line doesn't make much sense.
IF there are replies and a third line is needed, THEN it's okay to have such. But if that's not the case there must not be an empty line.
in reply to Café-Junkie

@CafeJunkie The empty space you're probably referencing will eventually display a message preview.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Okay, so there is simply no example of a message with message text?
In the gif the third line is mostly empty, just a star-icon, a paperclip-icon or the button to expand the replies...
🤔
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Why not move the bottom right buttons up and only show a third line when something like the “𝑛 replies” button needs to be shown?
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Looks really good! Any plans to look at forks in reply-all threads? Eg, where one participant replies to you alone. Currently it's still grouped under the original thread, and mixed in with forks from other participants.

Just sort out the zoom shortcuts and put the system menu back where it belongs.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

it is much nicer to the eye. I known that it is not a popular metric among free software users, but it is really important for my experience and adoption.
However I agree that it seems a little bit too roomy.

amazing but I will be that guy saying pls bring feature X where X = system tray support on Linux :)
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

It's nice to have a new look. But it seems busier even than the current design
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Looks wonderful! I assume keyboard navigation shortcuts will still be in play!

Many thanks for great improvements!

in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Thanks, I'm always grateful for progress in this area.

I'm wondering why the unread status is conveyed both by the green dot and the bold subject? Am I understanding it correctly?

Looks like even the new cards view will miss one major feature - option to delete message without selecting message.
Both Gmail and Outlook (also new one) display "trash icon" when you hover over the card.
This is extremely helpful to speed up cleaning the inbox.
Can you please add this feature? Thanks in advance ;-)
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Looks fantastic! Any chance we can get a peek at it in dark mode? 👀

looks nice, but please tell me, I am still able do disable conversations. They don’t allow a proper inbox workflow.
If so, nice job, can’t wait for it.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

When are you going to fix your setup to not just blindly assume people are running x86-64 binaries?
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

can I offer a feature to focus on? I get long rich html newsletters, and I can't search them. Ctrl-F is greyed in the edit menu. The technology exists, why can't I search texts?

I tried saving, renaming the .eml to
.html, load them in Firefox, and then search worked odd, but that's for a different ticket ;)

@I This would be a great suggestion for Mozilla Connect! https://connect.mozilla.org is where all our suggestions live and can get in front of the community and developers!
