I really like this explanation of the changes @niemanlab's editor made in her news intake: cut out "reactions", shift to finite information flows (print but also online news before it is amplified). And RSS, of course:

My goodness, it's so very easy to set up #RSS feeds in #Thunderbird.

This is also a great way to follow newsletters without your email inbox getting jammed up. I mostly subscribe to newsletters, turn the emails off, and then read them in my feed reader.
Most newsletters provide an RSS feed, or there are some RSS readers that will let you send emails to a special email address so they show up in your feed.

For feed readers, I use Inoreader, but there are many other good options.
One of my favorite people is now on blue sky, and I dont want to create a bluesky account just to follow him.
Fortunately every blue sky account has an rss feed, and RSSParrot can create a fediverse account for me to follow so I can get my favorite twitch streamer's bluesky updates right in my mastodon timeline: rss-parrot.net/

the new version of my artist website, built with #11ty, is now live!! palomakop.tv
the design has been subtly refreshed, and the homepage is different. there are still more improvements and additions that i want to make, but all of the pages from the old site are there -- and crucially, it will be 10000x easier to make those changes than it was with the html version.
also, there is now a full text #RSS feed for my blog updates ^-^
feedback on the new site is welcome.
The H and K project is a project to build a server that can be easily hosted in the basement or in another place in the house. For the basic services set up so far, #yunohost is used with #zola, #sogo and #gotosocial. Next, a #matrix server will be installed. It is currently still unclear whether it will be a full Synapse server, or one of the smaller alternatives. It is important that all data are stored in your own house without using servers of strangers on the Internet (AKA Cloud).
Based on this judgment https://www.datenschutzticker.de/2024/03/edsb-eu-kommission-därcht-datenschutz-microsoft-365/ there will probably be some need for such solutions in the foreseeable future. Smart users have already left the "cloud" or even better never used it.
