they're not essential, it's sometimes just a bigger attack surface.

You're missing an extremely important aspect in that matrix: syncing between units

do you plan to roll your own after you release Tuta Drive? or do existing solutions check all the boxes as is

I have a true paper booklet from MOLESKINE, starting with tab A through Z. Password are complex and substitution/shifted coded. Works like a charm.

Keepass, works everywhere, and doesn't even ask for network permissions.

Never trusted a "cloud" service for securiry or privacy.

I used KeePassXC before, with a side of 1Password for easier sharing with the family. Moved all of us to Proton, even the kid has his own vault now and everyone is happy.

I'm missing Proton Pass on your list. They have a free tier, and the client apps are open source. I love the broad application and OS support, seamless sync between devices and the ability to share entries with other family members. It can also manage passkeys and TOTPs.

Using #enpass !!
Managed to get a premium lifetime license a few years ago with a one off payment.
Love it !!
Store everything in it, even contact list !!
Its just a big database where I am in control of all fields for each entry
And most importantly, store the DB where I want !!!
I sync it to Nextcloud, other options available as well.....

After 5 very good years with Bitwarden, I decided to start using a local one, so now I use KeePassXC with KeePassDX on Android. I love it so far.
