@Chigaze The quote is said by his character Granny Weatherwax who talks to an Omnian priest in Carpe Jugulum (1998) about the nature of sin in the context of the Categorical Imperative. See also: Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals (1785) by Immanuel Kant.
An excerpt from Carpe Jugulum (1998): “Not usually. There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example.” “And what do they think? Against it, are they?” “Itʼs not as simple as that. Itʼs not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of gray.” “Nope.” “Pardon?” “Thereʼs no grays, only white thatʼs got grubby. Iʼm surprised you donʼt know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. Thatʼs what sin is.” “Itʼs a lot more complicated than that—” “No. It ainʼt. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means theyʼre getting worried that they wonʼt like the truth. People as things, thatʼs where it starts.” “Oh, Iʼm sure there are worse crimes—” “But they starts with thinking about people as things . . .” Grannyʼs voice trailed off.
