If you read the article, as I just did, it just says that the researchers used AI to analyze past crime data to predict the probability of further crimes of a particular type occuring w/in a particular period of time w/in the areas in which the data was collected, which is no more than an advanced form of statistical analysis.
So, unlike the clairvoyants in the movie #TheMinorityReport, their model could not predict when or by whom a specific crimes would be committed. So, it is really much ado about nothing.🤷
@sgt1372 doesn't even seem like a more advanced form of statistical analysis to me, as they're removing the ability to look inside the black box and trace how it's analyzing the data and what it's getting wrong.
How could you ever use an answer from one of these ML models if you can't explain/understand what it did to a judge or jury?
