The problem is that the pig butchering scam relies on malicious apps uploaded to the apple app store and google play. Apple has a absolute monopoly over app distribution and as such they have absolute responsibility to provide a good experience free of malware and scams. Google is less responsible because they allow sideloading but they should be held accountable for what makes it on the google play store, for a 30% cut of everything you I spend on google play and the apple app store I expect a better experience free of malware and scams, same with apple, especially when app developers pass the 30% fee onto me in one way or another. If you don't want to be liable for everything that happens on your OS/Browser/Website than allow sideloading and API access for 3rd party tools, plugins and apps when users choose to use these features.
