Thanks so much to everyone who hung in this week as we’ve all worked to fix the state of the Nix community. It’s been a ride; but I think things are going to get better.
Here’s the last major piece of the puzzle — the product of several months of work from an absolutely incredible team. It’s not ready for a full announcement, but we’ve opened our beta so people who are fleeing the core Nix community have a place to go.
Lix
Lix is an independent variant of the Nix package manager, developed by a team of open-source volunteers, and maintained by and for a passionate community of users.lix.systems

PS. I just signed up to the aux.computer community forum. And saw that @jakehamilton created a topic mentioning #Lix:

Sharing the excitement there. Thanks for your great work done already! I hope the communities will collab closely together in Auxy Lixy ecosystem that is shaping up

Some serious work has gone into ensuring it improves on upstream without having the regressions that have plagued them last three major versions!
And, since this will matter to some — it’s not a project of the NixOS foundation, but an independent organization that takes its responsibility to its community seriously.
