They're trying to sell sunglasses to greying dudes like myself. So they're calling on two names:

* #Porsche: I am hostile to this brand which I associate with reckless spending, ostentatious consumption and dangerous driving.

* Patrick Dempsey: I have never heard of him.

This ad is not effective with me. But then I never buy expensive sunglasses. So good call, maybe.

My dad used to work with market segmentation studies in #advertising. "Do not mail your knitting yarn catalogue to teenage boys" etc. He told me I'm in the hopeless and worthless #marketing segment that is best ignored. Anti-consumerist, environmentally conscious, ascetic, hostile to ostentatious luxury consumption. I see it as a badge of honour. Fuck "the economy"!

Please tell me about a recent ad or commercial for a product that you reacted favourably to!

I cannot.

My only memory of an ad that speaks to me is from 1992.

@jens Yeah, I'm with Jens here. I am so fed up with having ads blared at me from every conceivable angle that there is simply no such thing as an ad from anytime in the past three decades at least that I'd have a favourable reaction to. At absolute best the reaction is neutral (meaning I didn't even notice it). If I notice it, I hate it automatically.
