Why do old mine buildings often look like extensions of a hill? Is it because they held machinery to immediately process (stamp, wash, sift) the mine’s output?

I see lots of abandoned mines in the Arizona backcountry and I'll never not be pissed off about how people are allowed to leave so much garbage behind when they're played out. And even more pissed when I see the half-assed job they do blocking mine entrances.

But your photos are still fantastic!

Abandoned mines, as I well know from the Elder Scrolls games, are home to evil non-human bandits who will attack you on sight.
