“When there is legitimate concern about the vast amounts of information that people freely hand over to social media companies, app stores, devices & other services,” laws that require collecting MORE data don't make sense, EFF’s @aaronmackey told @CNN. cnn.com/2025/03/13/tech/app-st…

Where are the laws to protect us? I'm so sick of this. Companies save my debit card # when I pay in person, I'm not asked about it or even told. My dentist even. I'm told as leaving "you're done, your payment went through" without even being asked. I'm pissed and sick of it. Pharmacies, corner stores, etc

When you go online, forget about it! They take everything from everyone, from everywhere and you have no options to stop it. Then they share it and don't protect it.

How is it is that the word 'Web' does not show up in this article? Facebook still has web access, so they still need to police that, as it is not an app. I have to assume that Meta is also thinking of getting rid of its remaining 'web' products, or at least tying them to having an app, as they do with whatsapp and instagram.

““This level of data sharing isn’t necessary — a weather app doesn’t need to know if a user is a kid,” Google’s Ghanem wrote in his Wednesday post.”

Ghanem has not heard of @CARROT.

“If you are a 40-year-old who happens to have a younger face, you could be misclassified as a minor.”
