In quite an aggressive bit of annoyance of my (fully functional) @Kobo Elipsa mostly collecting dust due to the #enshitification of the Kobo Firmware (requiring users to be logged in; working around that might put your data at risk of getting wiped at the next firmware update) ...

I took the plunge today and ordered a @pine64eu PineNote. At least that is a device which is properly hackable. Yes, I'm fully aware that the user experience will not be like a fully finished product. But that's perfectly fine - simply because it is hackable.

Simply a massive "F*** ***, #Kobo!" from me.

If there are anyone who really wants a fully working Kobo Elipsa 2E in good condition, reach out and we'll agree on a price for it. I have the original box for it as well. The hardware is great, it's the firmware which is really annoying me and I don't have the patience to hack on a completely new firmware for it.

The presidential led enshitification of US health continues apace.

The combined MMR vaccine was introduced in 1971 to spare parents from making multiple trips to the doctor. Announcing a “gold standard” for childhood vaccines in the Oval Office, Trump, who has long questioned the wisdom of combining inoculations into one jab, linked the MMR vaccine to autism. He said the number of recommended vaccines for children should fall from 18 to 11, jabs for hepatitis B, Covid-19 and influenza no longer advised by the federal government. “Decades ago, children received only a small fraction of the vaccines required today. In those times, people were much healthier and of course the high rates of autism now observed did not exist. There’s a reason for such epidemic rates of autism,” he said. Trump said his own children had received their vaccines in five doses even though making five trips to the doctor was “inconvenient”. “Essentially they get 20 per cent,” he said. “It’s inconvenient, it’s five stops.” He added: “They do say that giving individual MMR, there is no impact. In fact they’ve said how safe it seems to be. But I heard when I put them together they can be explosive.”
