Shout out to AccessNow folks and @Xeniax who helped to convince Meta to unblock #deltachat invite URLs in Facebook. Previously delta invite-links on Facebook were marked as "dangerous" and didn't work.

sidenote: if you send someone an invite-link, they can click it directly after they installed Delta Chat because they will be guided through the "create-profile" flow automatically and then be dropped into a chat with the inviter.

@jonah the invite-links are decentralized: no web-request is done typically/when mobile DC apps are registered to directly get the request on the same device where the link is clicked. If you don't have DC installed, then you would indeed visit the web page which however doesn't see who you want to connect to.
as to chatmail servers, there are several public ones at https://delta.chat/chatmail and a number of private/non-public ones -- for each invite links work just fine as described.
