Could someone with better knowledge of UK politics explain what the point of Burnham taking over is if he's not going to do or say anything different to Starmer?
He's gone back on everything: not offering PR after all, not protecting trans people, not altering immigration policy, not rejoining the EU. AFAIK he hasn't said anything substantial at all on any current issue except to take back what he'd said before?

that's the neat part, there's basically no point at all!
Him getting in would block Streeting being PM, and possibly also keep him away from Health, which is certainly a positive, but no other than an illusion of βsomething happenedβ there's no point. In practice the same people will be calling the shorts, just with factionally different side-interests.

What is the point even for them? Just a couple of years of power followed by a humiliating defeat?
