"The former shadow defence secretary Clive Lewis said: “No one disputes the need for diplomacy with the US. That is realpolitik. But rolling out a state visit in the middle of an illegal war, led by a man doing profound damage to democratic norms, is not diplomacy; it is a profound misreading of the moment.”"

How are we in a world where these two statements are widely seen as simultaneously true: (1) You always know when you see a trans woman so Sex Matters toilet terrorists are just fine, and (2) trans women are so sneaky the IOC has to catch them out with genetic testing?
There has only ever been one trans woman athlete at the Olympics, and she finished last. It wasn't a trans sneak attack, the athlete made no secret of her history. There is no evidence at all of trans women "stealing" sport from cis women. In fact, trans women are underrepresented on the winner's podium.
This ban is transphobic but the direct victims of the ruling are intersex and cis women who are now required to "prove" they are women. The violence is that people who have lived their whole lives as women will be told they aren't really valid. That they are a threat to their sisters.
Fuck the IOC.
The wonderful Jeffrey Sachs leaves nobody in doubt about the absolute hypocrisy and complicity of western governments who condemned #Iran for defending its country against the illegal attack by #USA and #Israel.
“Even George Orwell could not make this up.”
He also points out that any nation with #US bases on its soil are not sovereign countries.

The UK government has refused to regulate the ever-growing age verification industry.
This is despite market leader Yoti being fined by the Spanish data protection authority for the way it handles personal data.
Expanding the reach of age gates further across the Internet threatens privacy.

'...Danish soldiers flown to Greenland in January were prepared to blow up key airport runways over fears that US President Donald Trump could invade the Arctic island, Denmark's public broadcaster DR says.
Citing sources in the Danish government and military, and also among European allies, DR says blood supplies were also brought in to treat the wounded in the event of fighting.
[...] A high-ranking Danish security source told DR that "when Trump keeps saying he wants to take over Greenland, and then what happened in Venezuela happened, we had to take all scenarios seriously."...'

Morning, all,
it’s good that #HMG has chartered aircraft to help British “ex-pats”* escape the active war-zone now engulfing the Gulf states. That stands in stark contrast to Desperate Don’s regime, which has sloped shoulders, telling U.S. citizens to find their own way home.

" in some instances even been an active participant in these crimes".

Could VPNs be banned in the UK? We asked the experts
The government has launched a public consultation into whether VPNs should be age-restrictedAlex Lee (The Independent)
It's 2026. The UK removes the last hereditary seats from its parliament.
“This broad amendment takes power away from [UK] parliament and Ofcom and hands it to ministers. The consequence of this would be every adult having to provide their personal data, or use their body and biometric features as a key to unlock the Internet."
It doesn't address the structural causes of online harms and can be used to restrict content ideologically.

🚨 Wide ranging powers to restrict Internet access in the UK have been voted through 🚨
Ministers will be able to impose digital ID checks, curfews and VPN restrictions without Parliamentary scrutiny.
This can be used on websites, social media, apps and games with no need to show there's any harm to children.
