each wave of deportations (expulsiones) temporarily enriched a handful of people while the crown became a money pit and the country had no sovereign wealth to show for their so-called empire.
all those italians that ended up all over américas in the 1800s? collateral damage from the crown selling off their european lands to liquidate debts.
