I was just informed the farmer adjacent to my bee yard planted 10 acres of sunflowers a week ago. A major plus for the HarpHives Apiary! Sunflowers bloom late in the summer and it's pollen is a natural medicine to bees that can treat gut issues. Apparently the honey is tasty too but that's about third or fourth on my list of pros, the overwintering aspects is what I care most about. Sunflowers will provided great nourishment for the bees.

I did do some #beekeeping. Moved the swarm into the nuc, cut off a flower for my mom while it was cold and wet and probably without ants, had dinner, moved #6 egg chick into the brooder, had some strawberries on velvet poundcake, took a frame of brood out of a hive in case the nuc doesn't have a queen which it seemed like and if it does there's like 5 queen cells ready to hatch that she can fight on that 1 frame, made some bee food, and put the bait hive back in the tree.
