Filled the bee water up and they quickly show up.

While reviewing a couple of hours of video from today, I did see some bees leave and the same or others come back. Maybe the new sign above the entrance is helping or it's just nurse bees assigned to foraging so they don't have a clue where home is and actually pay attention to the entrance.

Stopped by Christie Pits on my way back from a dentist appointment today. Wasn't really expecting to find much given how much foot traffic and how little "wild" space there is, but to my astonishment there were a few different kinds of bees making burrows in sandy patches on the sunny hillside!

There were fluffy white-and-black mining bees (skittish, hard to get photos) and smaller, more docile metallic olive-green sweat bees.

It's time for an old-fashioned Bee-Off.

Which is the better bee? Bee one? or Bee two?

In case you were wondering, 1/8000 sec is not a short enough shutter speed to freeze a bee's wings.

“We’ve added almost a million bee colonies in the past five years. We now have 3.8 million, the census shows. Since 2007, the first census after alarming bee die-offs began in 2006, the honeybee has been the fastest-growing livestock segment in the country! And that doesn’t count feral honeybees, which may outnumber their captive cousins several times over.”

In case anyone’s not too sure.. this is what a 'spring lawn' is supposed to look like.

Breakdown:

• No irritating lawn-mower lines.
• A multitude of flowers.
• Lawn-mower rests, unperturbed in garden shed.
• No Louis X1V - 'rules over nature'.
• No walking up and down for hours, making a really annoying, loud noise and irritating the neighbours.

• Just peace, quiet and LOTS of bees.

Mornin’.

Meet Becky.

Breakfasting on a dandelion to build up her energy for another day of house hunting.

You’ll catch her flying low to the ground (listen for that deep hum) at this time of year as she seeks out a suitable place to start her nest.

With a full stomach she has about 40 minutes of flight in her before needing to refuel so leave those stunning yellow #dandelions grow as they are vital for her!

Please boost.
Knowledge shared means more care.
Thanks folks.🙏🏼🐝
