Generator safety PSA: ***DO NOT FILL UP A RUNNING GASOLINE GENERATOR***

Gasoline fumes are released when you refuel the tank, and there is a high risk of igniting those vapors from the hot exhaust of the generator. You should not only turn OFF the generator, but also WAIT FOR IT TO COOL DOWN.

(you can get devices to toggle tanks/etc. safely, but most people do not have this).

The worst time to cause yourself burn injuries (and worse yet, maybe set your neighborhood on fire) is during the middle of a disaster.

I'm wondering if anyone is in range of Topanga Canyon and knows if the Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness (TCEP) has successfully implemented their FRS radio communications plan. I know their CERT team and ham radio folks have been on the air. #disasters #TopangaCanyon #DisasterPreparedness
FRS RADIO TOP-OF-THE-HOUR REPORTS When TCEP’s EOC is activated, the DRT is responsible for communicating critical updates to the public every hour over FRS radio channel 15. These “Top-of-the-Hour” FRS reports give residents who may have lost all traditional phone, TV and Internet communications a way to learn about evacuation orders and other important information.
