So, seems my laptop has reached its end of life, sadly and I'm in need of a new one.

I need it to:

• Have very good build quality
• Have cooling that will not fail
• Be easy to take apart, repair and upgrade
• Be compatible with Linux (and be designed as open as possible)
• Have enough graphics etc power to play fairly recent games and do graphics intensive work well.

With that all said, which of the following options would y'all recommend?

It's been roughly a week or so since testing out #Ubuntu on my #thinkpad T480s. I'm genuinely impressed how painless everything has been (connecting displays, driver support, wifi etc).

I know Ubuntu is picked on quite a bit, but I think it is one of the best free/open "starter" operating systems to introduce to newbies.

Quite incredible that this guy ( #Thinkpad x200s) - who is now at least 12 years old - is still alive and kicking!

Also, this was the best keyboard ever, the Lenovo keyboards have been downgraded since then to become blend just like any other laptop keyboard. The trackpoint still works perfectly on it while it doesn't on my more recent lenovo (T490s, about 6 y.o.).
The fingerprint reader is much more reliable.
The screen is perfect, while T490 has a dead pixel band at the top.
It has a WiFi switch (😍) and a removeable battery.

Why are things getting worse instead of getting better? 😕
