Reminds me of the time when General Motors along with oil companies and tire companies bought city railways all across the US to replace trains with buses made by GM.

A loss for the climate and for all the people who were forced to use slower and more uncomfortable buses instead of the trains (why a lot of them bought cars).

A big win for GM, Standard Oil, Greyhound (who were founded by GM just at that time) and Firestone.

All of those companies were of course fined later for the illegal practices that helped them make hundreds of millions.
It cost them 5000$.
