Gerald Ford knew Richard Nixon could be prosecuted for his crimes as president – when Ford gave Nixon “a full, free and absolute pardon” 50 years ago.

Most citizens were outraged.

Most people thought Nixon could be prosecuted for the Watergate crimes – until this summer, when #SCOTUS ruled in Trump v. United States that presidents had immunity.

The JFK Library gave Ford a Profiles in Courage award for issuing that pardon… which was one of the worst abuses of presidential power in terms of its historical impact
