@tpanero I read the article differently: I think what it's saying is that discussing the impact of climate change on the grandchildren of the person you are talking to is a way to open a more effective dialogue than just talking about it in the abstract.

In mediation btwn two opposing sides you need common ground and common understandings. Im not sure there are any.. Rep + Dems don't even agree on what it is to be American. Or what it is to look after American turf: one side wants to protect it more, the other wants to dig it up, slash and burn.
