Americans stranded across the Middle East may have to wait “a few days, maybe a week” for evacuation flights, according to former U.S. Ambassador Donald Heflin, who worked on this sort of thing for years at the State Department.
He says the U.S. did not follow its usual protocol of warning Americans to leave as tensions escalated — leaving many scrambling for a way out now.
