Not exactly free, "yet", I had to pay in order to use their api to generate those images, but it is certainly cheap and eventually the model will be released as open source (check link below), which will allow for the community to tinker with it, fine tune it and create improved versions that may solve/improve this issue and others that it may have. It has been like that since sd1.5.

You can get it for free from huggingface and run it on your own hardware.

Ah. Well I've been using SDXL for awhile, idk what version it is currently, but it's up to date and it's "okay". Sometimes it gets hands correct. Midjourney doesn't have much issue with hands anymore thankfully.
