Living with vitiligo means my skin tells a story of visible change. But the battles with depression and loneliness are the invisible ones that feel just as permanent. Trying to practice what I preach and be kind to both the parts of me that people see, and the parts they don't. 🧩

Vitiligo must be so much harder for people of color than it is for whities like me in Europe. Noone here cares that I have vitiligo. People barely look even in the summer when I do have a tan.
Meanwhile, I know some people with vitiligo from India and south-east asia who barely can find themselves a partner due to their vitiligo 😕

@meraord Thank you for recognizing that. I'm a person of color from Malaysia with vitiligo, and while the social pressure can be tough, I want to share that I am happily married and have a child. I hope this helps show others that you can still build a beautiful life and family. The right people will love you for who you are.

Exactly! I'm happy to hear that you have a family and a life you are happy with, even if there is social pressure. Unfortunately, I don't think moving to the western countries is a "solve all"-solution for people of color with vitiligo who find it hard in their home countries, moving means having to face some level of racism aswell (obviously we don't want our countries to be racist, but they all sadly are to some extent).

And obviously, we all deserve being loved for who we are ❤️

@meraord It meant a lot to me. I was born in Malaysia and have lived here all my life. It's a multicultural, multiracial country, and I find that people here are generally very understanding and friendly despite their different religions. Of course, like anywhere, there is a little bit of racism, maybe 1% of people, but for the most part, it's a place where diversity is our norm. Sadly, color ppl facism racism anywhere. And obviously, we all deserve being loved for who we are ❤️
