The assumption that disability is something to be solved, healed or cured is in itself abelist. It falsely suggests a world where disabled people need or want to be "fixed."

I think a lot of fantasy writers could learn a lot from reading about the Deaf and how angry they get at the idea they need to be fixed. It's not exactly hard to find news stories about that.

(heck, a lot of X-Men is about that so it's hardly an original concept for SFF)
