Yay! So the news is finally out, and my first novel will be published in 2028. I started writing this book in 2017, before I fully understood the #solarpunk genre, but I poured my dreams and fears into this work and it has many elements of the egalitarian world I dream about, without capitalism. I think you will love it too.

Even at my most secure, it’s never really safe for me to write. I didn’t realize that until recently. . . . [I]n a country without much of a safety net, you are dependent on what you and yours can accumulate. Any energy diverted to something other than accumulation is a risk. If you lose your job—or get hurt . . . —what you have accumulated has to last until your next opportunity, if there is one.

The energy others put into securing career advancement I devoted to #writing. . . . I have no idea how much money I would need to accumulate before I could believe writing was safe for me. I wish it could be, because I’m not sure I can stop doing it. But maybe it’ll always be a risk.
