I really don't like talking about political/personal stuff, but I think this is important..

I was just denied health insurance as a spouse (my husband's new job) because I couldn't prove I was married to my husband. Reason: new "federal policy". First I had to show a birth certificate, not a real ID or SS#, to prove my identity, and then I had to show my marriage certificate. Since the marriage cert. has my birth name, they don't consider it proof I am a spouse. Really.

Ask your hubb's HR department to straighten it out. If they will mess you around on day 1, it will only grow worse by day 1000. Marriage is all state jurisdiction. "Federal policy" can't say boo about who is married to whom.

@starluna The federal policy is, no doubt, aimed at disrupting benefits for LGBTQIA marriages, and trans marriages in particular.

Possibly also that women in general are more likely to vote against people like Trump. If women couldn't vote, US Republicans would win easily even without other forms of cheating.

C.f. Peter Thiel's comments about how giving women the vote was a mistake.
