I really don't like talking about political/personal stuff, but I think this is important..

I was just denied health insurance as a spouse (my husband's new job) because I couldn't prove I was married to my husband. Reason: new "federal policy". First I had to show a birth certificate, not a real ID or SS#, to prove my identity, and then I had to show my marriage certificate. Since the marriage cert. has my birth name, they don't consider it proof I am a spouse. Really.

My wife is on the phone with #UnitedHealthcare because a surgery she had scheduled for Tuesday next week was denied by the insurance company. The woman who is speaking to her has informed her that there is a nursing support call that is free of charge if my wife needs to discuss the emotions of getting this claim denied and to plan future care. It is such bollocks. USians generally hate our healthcare plans and these companies. Imagine facing surgery and being told that they won't pay for it, but they will pay for a nurse to call you and console you about their decision. Absolutely horrific.

Oh, and I pay over $3,000 per year for this level of health insurance for my family.

This is the fear. Hospital systems and administrators will ruthlessly cut costs even if it puts patients in jeopardy. Its worse when a private equity takes over.

And you bet they will lean on AI to try to cut costs and be willing to eat the occasional suit (or settle under an NDA which happens A LOT)

This is a system that made OVER 1.5 billion in revenue over expenses in 2024.
