Protests aren't going to do shit until they turn into real riots.
I love how all the #vermont peeps are all excited to makes signs for Saturday, but NO ONE is willing to march on the ICE facility in Williston and burn it to the ground.
They're putting ICE detainees IN OUR JAILS people, not even in ICE facilities, in the goddamn South Burlington JAIL.
If ever there was something we had a moral responsibility to address AND is local and right in our faces THIS IS IT.

Violent protests are not useful either IMO, they'll just give Trump an excuse to install martial law, this is how 1933 Germany turned into a dictatorship.

in reply to El Duvelle • • •@elduvelle Agreed. but martial law or no, there's way too many of us for them to stop if we all get motivated and get moving.
12 cops isn't going to stop a million people. Neither 120, nor 1200.
We are legion. We just need to get moving.

in reply to El Duvelle • • •@elduvelle If the Turks and Georgians can do it, if the French can do it routinely... we can do it too.
Not only CAN we, I would suggest it is our DUTY to do so. It is our end of the social contract to hold up. We promise the elites that if they become too oppressive, regardless of the law we will seek retribution.
The French understand this contract very well, which is why any time the French government tries to screw over the people, the people go on strike and start lighting shit on fire.

I used to wonder why Americans do not protest or strike more, but after understanding how much more advanced the social protections are in France, I understand a bit better!
That being said I totally agree with you that Americans should strike / protest / riot as strongly as possible in the current situation, but I think a lot of them are simply stretched too thin already, working multiple jobs, struggling with debt and already poor healthcare, that it's probably hard to sacrifice the short term even if it means they'll be better off on the long term..
... Show more...Maybe if some benev

Maybe if some benevolent billionaire would tell them that their salary & healthcare would be paid back on any strike days it would make it all possible..
