@johannes Thanks for the feedback, and we understand your concern. While Owl is a great-add on, we know for many users (current and future) native Outlook support is something they need to both use Thunderbird and to recommend it to others.

Jep, I thought so. And it's true. However, it bears the risk of always running behind Microsoft closed source. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just assume that the implementation of office is a lot of reverse engineering and less working on will documented standards. It runs the risk of requiring constant tweaks, binding workforce and brainpower.
My idea is a joint venture. Why don't you partner up with owl, users can subscribe to owl straight from/via TB?
