A happy ending for the company who annoyed #Apple & #iMessage users everywhere.

As far as a universal messaging system goes, this has been attempted numerous times with little success. I can see #Beeper complimenting #WordPress sites, but I do not see them creating a universal standard for sending messages.

But do we need a universal messaging system when we have email‽

@BeAware #Beeper 📟 reminds me of Trillion. https://www.beeper.com/

Ah, yes. I misunderstood the purpose of it. Hmmm.... interesting. Not sure what they're gonna do but I'm sure it'll be interesting.🤷‍♂️

@BeAware

I remember using Trillion a long time ago, when I had accounts on ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and maybe one other.

Pidgin and Kopete still exist as well even though I don't know what networks they could be used for anymore.

Maybe something like Matrix would be a better option. It's still federated and allows for independent networks to be built.

@CWSmith Well yeah, matrix is a thing, though I believe we were discussing what Automattic would do with an app like Beeper. And I can't think of anything...😬I wasn't aware of beeper and kinda wrongly assumed it was a single chat app like whatsapp, but it's like Trillion.🤷‍♂️

already kinda is considering that they use matrix (basically a federated instant messaging protocol)

there is actually an AP bridge called Kazarma but I haven't gotten it working on my matrix homeserver unfortunately..
