Believe it or not, Microsoft appears to be rebranding Xbox.

Two new BC-made apples are making their debut this year.

The first is Snowflake, which has its name because of snowflake-shaped lenticels peppered on its red skin. It supposedly has white, winter-like flesh. It’s supposed to be tart and sweet, kind of like Granny Smith but more balanced.

The other is Sunpunch. And this one has a tricolour that has a gold, orange, and red gradient. It has more of a tropical taste reminiscent of citrus and pineapple. Sunpunch is being marketed for kids’ lunchboxes.

@csolisr While it is true that Cosmic Crisp is proprietary, the patent holder is Washington State University—who developed the Cosmic Crisp because Red Delicious has fallen out of fashion, and farmers in Washington State desperately need a cultivar to replace it.

The patent is to ensure that Washington State farmers benefit first, so they are the exclusive growers of Cosmic Crisp.

However, that patent runs out in 2032. After which, anyone can grow the cultivar so long as it isn’t branded as Cosmic Crisp.

In other words, this proprietary #apple (for the time being) is a far cry from something predatory, like much of what Monsanto makes.

@nixanadoo Yeah, but Lady Alice arrived in grocery stores in 2008. So I can’t say it’s the best #apple product of the last decade.
