Seeing #PavelDurov arrested is a reminder of the fundamental issue with privately owned social media, and makes me reflect on my Twitter, Facebook, IG, and WhatsApp accounts.

I only recently started using #Mastodon again, and this only further highlights the utility of a decentralized platform.

yes. I always advocate for users to host their own instance and don't rely on others.

The easiest ways are through Elest.io, toot.io, and masto.host
