Thanks for this - I just wonder how is it legal for the police or any other authority to either ask for your phone or take it by force?

@elduvelle good question. It actually varies by state. And it’s nuanced.

But here’s a key thing to note. The cops can’t force you to enter your password into your phone, but they can make it scan your face or use your thumbprint. So disabling biometric authentication is vital.
