I'm sure everyone is going love the new #Firefox update.

Edit: this is far from being shoved down your throat. You have to go into the settings and enable the sidebar, and then you have to click the little AI button in the sidebar.

If you didn't go looking for it you would never know it's there.

Sheesh, absolutely disgusting!

These companies really need to stop shoving AI down our throats.

While I know there are some good uses for AI, this kind of thing just isn't necessary in my opinion.

I'm not referring to the setting itself. I'm referring to AI in general being the forefront of everything. Such as, starting up a browser and getting a notification like that.

AI is indeed being shoved down our throats just about everywhere we look and turn right now and there's no denying it. It's a huge fad/phase that really needs to go away.

@cliffwade sorry if it wasn't clear. This is not a notification. It's nowhere by default. The sidebar is disabled. I went into the settings and turned it on.
in reply to Cliff

@cliffwade yeah like I said if you didn't go looking for it you wouldn't know it was there.

@cliffwade That seems like the right approach. Make AI an option but don't shove it in the user's face.

@ghalldev @cliffwade yeah I don't mind it, I actually like chatting with Mistral and Gemini has been extremely useful at work.

I agree, great choice indeed.

Like I stated, AI has its good uses, just sad that these companies shove it down our throats a lot and people tend to misuse it.

@APBBlue it's off by default.

Well better than edge. They almost go Clippy with cramming copilot into everything and showing it to you.
in reply to Patrick

@ppb1701 yeah I like Edge but they basically slap you in the face with Copilot.

I used it for a while but I got sick of it and some other settings just opted in and enabled what felt like every other update. Ran fine, but then it's mostly a MS skinned Chrome so it should heh.
in reply to Patrick

@ppb1701 yeah I've actually been using it as my browser for work and I like it for that. It's also one of the better and faster browsers on Android.

I'm currently using Librewolf on desktop with Vivaldi as backup if it's a site that just balks at non chrome. On my iPhone I'm using Orion primarily with Vivaldi/safari for sites going quirky.
