Almost as if we shouldn’t be trusting vital scientific research to factory farms for human beings or something.

You have to understand this vital distinction: Google didn’t carry out this research, the scientists employed by Google carried out this research. These same scientists could be employed with our taxes if the whole damn system wasn’t corrupt to its core.

This is like when, in the municipality of As Pontes in my country, the coal plant had a lot of programs for planting gardens and other biodiversity initiatives. We could have had all these biodiversity programs without a coal plant all this time. Letting the coal plant control a majority percentage of the garden and forest planting money does not improve biodiversity, it only improves the coal business.

AlphaFold 3 already had a very problematic license, so many researchers were avoiding it. Fortunately there are open alternatives to AlphaFold, such as Boltz-2, available already.
