Playing around with Bitcrust, a cool synth modeled after the legendary SID chip (of Commodore 64 fame).
From the website: "The 6581 / 8580 architecture is the starting point, not the destination: oscillators, envelope, filter, and the glue between them are designed to capture the SID’s character… without trying to be a bit-accurate or cycle-accurate emulation."
Sounds nice and crunchy to me.
Free (free beer) on Linux; inexpensive on other OSes.
