Weā€™re excited to announce that, from Monday, weā€™re going to be the new admins of IndieWeb.social!

Weā€™ve always loved how @tchambers has run IndieWeb.social. His direction has made it one of the best instances on the Fediverse!

Thanks to Tim for his trust in us to provide a safe and secure home for the server into the future.

It's been a few years since I built my website using Jekyll. It's starting to get stale. I learned a lot about IndieWeb while setting up, so I don't regret using it!

But the overhead of the build is starting to get to me. Longing for something that I perceive as simpler - paid services like micro.blog or omg.lol - or maybe 11ty. Not sure I can give up control to a paid service for my main site.

"The #fediverse wonā€™t succeed just because itā€™s better. It will succeed if and only if people choose it. If they reject the idea that being trapped in someone elseā€™s ecosystem is just the cost of existing online. If they stop believing that ā€œfreeā€ means surrendering ownership of your own connections, your own history, your own data. The #internet was built to connect us, not silo us to pad a wealth-extremistā€™s bank account." (#westenberg)

I'm procrastinating right now. So, I wrote a post about procrastinating.

Now, I'm procrasti-tooting about my procrasti-blogging.

Wanna procrastinate with me by reading the post? You can tell me what you thought about it so I can procrasti-read and procrasti-respond to your comments.

Thanks!

I've been thinking for a while about adding comments to my blog by pulling them from other sources (like Mastodon replies) but I figured I was going to have to write some complicated logic to fetch them, save them to a cache, and invalidate them periodically.

I just noticed that's the *entire* thing eleventy-fetch already does! I am very excited to try this out sometime soon.

I've complettely revamped my site again! It's now #BuiltWithEleventy and has a proper blog with a tagging system and everything!
