We’re excited to announce that, from Monday, we’re going to be the new admins of IndieWeb.social!

We’ve always loved how @tchambers has run IndieWeb.social. His direction has made it one of the best instances on the Fediverse!

Thanks to Tim for his trust in us to provide a safe and secure home for the server into the future.

It's been a few years since I built my website using Jekyll. It's starting to get stale. I learned a lot about IndieWeb while setting up, so I don't regret using it!

But the overhead of the build is starting to get to me. Longing for something that I perceive as simpler - paid services like micro.blog or omg.lol - or maybe 11ty. Not sure I can give up control to a paid service for my main site.

"The #fediverse won’t succeed just because it’s better. It will succeed if and only if people choose it. If they reject the idea that being trapped in someone else’s ecosystem is just the cost of existing online. If they stop believing that “free” means surrendering ownership of your own connections, your own history, your own data. The #internet was built to connect us, not silo us to pad a wealth-extremist’s bank account." (#westenberg)

I'm procrastinating right now. So, I wrote a post about procrastinating.

Now, I'm procrasti-tooting about my procrasti-blogging.

Wanna procrastinate with me by reading the post? You can tell me what you thought about it so I can procrasti-read and procrasti-respond to your comments.

Thanks!

I've been thinking for a while about adding comments to my blog by pulling them from other sources (like Mastodon replies) but I figured I was going to have to write some complicated logic to fetch them, save them to a cache, and invalidate them periodically.

I just noticed that's the *entire* thing eleventy-fetch already does! I am very excited to try this out sometime soon.

I've complettely revamped my site again! It's now #BuiltWithEleventy and has a proper blog with a tagging system and everything!

I have my reservations about whether or not blogs (specifically my blog) should federate content via ActivityPub. Isn’t RSS enough?
