Failing to capture auroras, I captured the taillights of passing trucks instead.

Nighttime long-exposure photo of red and yellow light streaks from the taillights of a passing truck, on a road by the Brooklyn waterfront. Through the streaks we can see glowing streetlights and a glimpse of the lit-up windows of the lower Manhattan skyline. At right are the leafless branches of a tree and above is a clear sky, deep blue in the early evening.
