A softly lit view of Mars from orbit taken in the 70s from NASA Viking 1, with the terminator cutting across the top left as space fades into black. Bluish-gray clouds near the shadow line give way to warmer ochre tones toward the bottom. The caldera of Pavonis Mons sits near the terminator, partly veiled by bluish-white clouds. Below, sunlit canyons and fractured ground in tan and gold form the maze-like terrain of Noctis Labyrinthus.
