After receiving the news, I was devastated… I can't imagine losing my leg 💔 and living in such harsh conditions.

I suffered a severe leg injury, including a fractured femur, extensive tissue damage, and nerve damage with limited sensation and mobility. Tests revealed shrapnel inside my leg and a metal plate extending from my pelvis to my left knee with a significant fixation error. This requires urgent surgery to avoid amputation.

The pain is unbearable, and the hospital told me I need the operation within 10 days, or I may lose my leg 💔

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese said that Israel systematically tortures Palestinians on a scale “indicative of collective vengeance and destructive intent,” according to a report released to the media on Friday.

The report, titled “Torture and Genocide,” examines Israel’s systematic use of torture against Palestinians from the occupied Palestinian territories since October 7.

The report states: “Brutal beatings, sexual violence and rape, lethal mistreatment, starvation, and the systematic deprivation of basic human conditions have left deep and lasting scars on the bodies and minds of tens of thousands of Palestinians and their loved ones.”

It’s hard to make a documentary about the war in Gaza that does not feel overtly political. And yet director Poh Si Teng’s unflinching new exposé, American Doctor, is first and foremost a humanitarian story — one in which medicine and moral decency take precedence over partisanship.

Which isn’t to say that this very hands-on look at three American physicians volunteering in Gaza isn’t also a political statement. By its very existence — and in what it reveals about the IDF’s killing, maiming and wounding of Palestinian civilians over the past few years — the film is a condemnation both of Netanyahu’s far-right war machine and the U.S. government’s steadfast support of it.
