“For decades, the #WashingtonPost's editorials have been a beacon of light, signaling hope to dissidents, political prisoners & the voiceless,” Hoffman wrote in a letter Monday explaining his decision to leave the editorial board. “When victims of repression were harassed, exiled, imprisoned & murdered, we made sure the whole world knew the truth.

The number of cancellations continued to grow Monday afternoon.

A corporate spokesperson declined to comment, citing The #WashingtonPost Co.'s status as a privately held company.

“It’s a colossal number,” former Post Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli told NPR. “The problem is, people don’t know why the decision was made. We basically know the decision was made but we don’t know what led to it.”

We want to support the journalists; so boycott Amazon and encourage Bezos to sell the Washington Post to someone who gives a shit.

"NPR...reported that 'more than 1,600 digital subscriptions had been cancelled less than four hours after the news broke.'

It was a reasonable impulse. But if Bezos is indeed why the Post is no longer endorsing candidates, and if people are worried about his outsize influence on our society, they should not be canceling their newspaper subscriptions. They should be canceling their Amazon Prime subscriptions."

When the LA Times' owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, killed its endorsement of Kamala Harris, he also quashed a multi-part series, tentatively called "The Case Against Trump," @TheWrap says. So far, three staffers — editorial writer Karin Klein, Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Green and editorials editor Mariel Garza have quit over the lack of endorsement, with Klein calling Soon-Shiong a "chickensh**." To date, the LA Times Guild is the only institution from the paper that has commented publicly. Here's more — free registration may be required to read the full article.

For some reason, the Washington Post changed the headline from:

"Trump meets definition of ‘fascist,’ says John Kelly, his former chief of staff

Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff, who is a former general, warned of his former boss’s dictator tendencies in an interview with the New York Times."
