An abandoned pottery factory, somewhere in #France
This small French #pottery works thrived for decades. It remained modest, while competitors expanded and modernised. While this gives the ruins a certain quaint charm, it was certainly a major factor in their closure!
Inside, the upper floors have long rows of wooden racks stacked with hundreds of moulds. Heavy pieces were once moved on wooden carts along a rail system.

Started watching a really intriguing well-documented history video but at the halfway point it degenerated into conspiracy theories about freemasons accompanied by screenshots of ChatGPT answers as "proof" of the video maker's claims 🙄
How does someone begin so well and then go off into a totally unsupported delusional tangent? Was this an attempt at deliberate "flood the zone with shit" disinformation? Was the reasonable intro a way of softening people up for the crazy stuff?

Town Mansion, Belgium. One of the first grand (semi) abandoned houses I ever visited!
A mysterious man living (or squatting) in the attic gave me permission to enter and photograph. Outside a storm raged, lighting flashed and thunder shook the house. It was a memorable visit!
Built in 1912, neighbouring houses were lost to First World War bombing, leaving this one as a rare survivor.

"History shows us that the right to literacy came at a heavy cost for many Americans, ranging from ostracism to death. Those in power recognized that oppression is best maintained by keeping the masses illiterate, and those oppressed recognized that literacy is liberation. To my students and to anyone who might listen, I say: Don’t surrender to AI your ability to read, write and think when others once risked their lives and died for the freedom to do so."

Pecans weren’t always holiday pie royalty 🥧
They spent thousands of years being traded, poached, ignored and reinvented. But they’re nutritious and versatile and even went to the Moon on Apollo missions (yes, literally 🚀)

The Grand Canyon & the Kolb Studio, which was begun in 1906 by photographers Emery & Ellsworth Kolb. The Kolb's were hardcore canyoneers. They carried their early--big & heavy--photographic equipment all over the Canyon. Sadly, the building is now a gift shop & the Kolb brother's history has been relegated to a tiny closet featuring a couple of their photos & a short video about their lives.

The first woman to sit in the Senate for more than a day, she'd been selected by the party on the understanding that she would serve out her late husband's term and not stand for re-election in 1932.
Instead she stood again, and remained a Senator until 1945.
