Alien: Romulus (2024)
Take the best parts of Alien, marry them to the best parts of Aliens and one should have a fantastic Alien movie with that DNA, right? Alien: Romulus looks like an Alien movie, it sounds like an Alien movie and it even is horrific like an Alien movie. Unfortunately it lacks the intelligence of the first two movies in the Alien franchise.
This movie marries the horror trope of dumb people doing dumb things trope into the Alien DNA. This made it very hard for me to cheer for any of the characters -- save the android, whom was the most rational, reasonable and unemotional of the bunch.
I did like that the writeres were able to work in elements from the Prometheus line of films into this movie.
David Jonsson is absolutely fantastic as Andy and Cailee Spaeny was also quite good. The rest of the cast is rather forgettable. There is a character that returns from the original Alien film, but since the actor past away in 2020, the digital semblance of the actor is offputting.

I am happy that Disney decided to continue the Alien and Predator franchises. But I wish they had released 2022's far superior Predator feature Prey to the big screens instead of Alien: Romulus.
