Under Biden/Harris there was 600 billion worth of tariffs... Trump suggests 80 billion in tariffs... Guess which one everyone lost their shit over?

Wait wait wait, #JoeBiden had more tariffs? Why didn't I hear about this?

Also, #Trump put some tariffs in place before and I don't remember there being any major repercussions. Did he pull those back? Or are tariffs really that bad?

I admit that I haven't delved that deeply into the history of tariff effects in the #USA but from a monetary theory perspective it's hard to see how that doesn't drive up inflation.

@realcaseyrollins

Im not talking about tarrifs he created, im talking about the total number of tarrifs on the books.

Remember Biden can always choose to remove or add tarrifs, ergo regardless of if he personally created them any tarrif on the books is one he has oked regardless of if he creates it. At the end of Biden's reign there was a total of 600 billion in tarrifs under the 301 that he has either created or allowed to stay on the books during his presidency.

Meanwhile trump has only suggested 80 billion in tarrifs total.

Ah tricky word "tariff" and maybe this effects people who hear it without deeper context or familiriarity.

I admit the word didn't mean much to me, similar to my mobile tarriff which is simply the mobile plan I'm on, how many minutes I get etc.

But then I looked it up guessing it's obviously something more so it has another meaning I wanted to point out and where it can go wrong sometimes...

Noun: tariff
1. A listing of prices for different goods or services
2. ❗ ❗ ➑️ A government tax on imports or exports ❗ ❗

Verb: tariff
1. Charge a tariff

@freeschool I think for the majority of the people it doesnt matter what a tarrif is. They simply hear "the other side proposed a thing therefore its evil". Thinking is not something americans do anymore.

@freeschool Those thinkers in trouble are in trouble largely because of how everyone else behaves to begin with. So yes, i do entierly blame people for that one.
