Whahaha!

Yeah, Bluesky is SOOOO decentralized 😆

that's why most of the network is down right?

in reply to stux⚡️

No please, don't explain it to me

I have a good clue on how it works and I classify it as centralized 🤷

in reply to stux⚡️

being decentralized was probably the biggest lie bsky staff got people to believe

more honestly, it has the potential to be decentralized, but in practice and reality it is not (and it would be very expensive for anyone to meaningfully decentralize it)

in reply to stux⚡️

Don't worry, there'll be alternate AppViews available any day now! As many as two (maybe)!

@kryptuxx 100% 😁 time and time again

And I thought it couldn't handle AdGuard all of a sudden.
in reply to stux⚡️

@kryptuxx

for plenty of people, Mastodon would also be down when the main mastodon.social goes down 🙂

If only spinning new instances was affordable to anyone below the strictest Big Tech.
in reply to stux⚡️

bluesky has been shit for the last few months, slow as molasses

if twitter was like bluesky is today , then every single blueskyer would be howling in derision

but I have literally not seen one post about how slow and buggy bsky is

LOL

in reply to stux⚡️

their "we are also decentralised" really destroyed the reputation of everything that is really decentralised"
in reply to stux⚡️

Never understood why it wasn't just semi private mastodon instance with its own client.

Threads sucks more but as an idea it makes more sense

@MxSpoon "Account portability is a major reason why we chose to build a separate protocol"

"I think it’d have been a difficult collaboration if we chose to use AP, especially since we weren’t willing to compromise on some of the decisions"

github.com/bluesky-social/atpr…

I think one way or the other they want
a) to monetize it
b) to control it

That's why AP wouldn't suffice. Tech reasoning is just word salad. They could have helped W3C and AP but chose not to.
